Fibromyalgia Symptoms

Fibromyalgia means widespread pain in the muscles, but this syndrome causes many other symptoms. Pressing on tender points can diagnose fibromyalgia, but the exam still does not explain all of your symptoms, because Fibromyalgia causes you to ache all over, and when you have these all symptoms exist together then there will be greater chance of developing the disease.

Most people with fibromyalgia also experience moderate to extreme fatigue, sleep disturbances, sensitivity to touch, light, and sound, and cognitive difficulties. Although the symptoms of fibromyalgia varies from person to person but there are some symptoms that are very common in every patient of fibromyalgia.

Fibro fog

This is the common symptom of fibromyalgia. The mental haziness called fibrofog or brain fog. This refers to the inability to concentrate, memory loss, and depression that occurs with fibromyalgia. One of the most popular theories about fibro fog has been that these problems are caused by sleep deprivation and depression. Individuals that experience a general lack of restorative rest and are physically exhausted due to the pain and other uncomfortable symptoms associated with fibromyalgia often suffer from fibro fog.

Pain

Pain is the most prominent symptom associated with fibromyalgia that is typically arising from muscles. Pain must occur on both sides of your body and above and below your waist. The tenderness is worse in the mornings and has been described as flu-like, burning, throbbing, aching, or stabbing. Fibromyalgia is characterized by additional pain when firm pressure is applied to specific areas of your body, called tender points. Tender point locations include Back of the head, between shoulder blade, top of shoulders, front sides of neck, upper chest, outer elbows, upper hips, sides of hips, inner knees.

Sleeping Problem and Fatigue

People with fibromyalgia often have sleeping problem. Their sleep is frequently disrupted by pain, and associated sleep disorder that prevents them from getting deep, restful, restorative sleep. Many patients with fibromyalgia have other sleep disorders, such as restless legs syndrome and sleep apnea, which further worsen symptoms. Fatigue occurs in 90% of patients. Fatigue may be related to abnormal sleep patterns commonly observed in these patients. Patients with fibromyalgia lack the deep, restorative level of sleep, called "non-rapid eye movement". So that patients with fibromyalgia often awaken in the morning without feeling fully rested.

Headaches and Migraines

People who are suffering from fibromyalgia may also have headaches, tension and many times migraines. This is also a common symptom of fibromyalgia.

Other Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

Many people who have fibromyalgia also may have:

  1. Anxiety
  2. Stiffness upon waking or after staying in one position for too long
  3. Jaw and facial tenderness
  4. Digestive disorders
  5. Itchy/burning skin
  6. Feeling of tiredness anytime
  7. dryness in mouth, nose, and eyes
  8. Widespread pain and pain may also be localized in areas such as the shoulders, neck, low back, hips, or other areas.
  9. Sensitivity to cold or heat
  10. Runny nose
  11. Jaw pain and stiffness

  13. Problems with vision
